Dentist Near Prince George, VA
Southside Dental Cares sits on South Crater Road at the Petersburg end of Prince George County, so for much of the county we are the closest full-service dental practice rather than a drive into Richmond. Family care, emergencies, implants and oral surgery under one roof. Call (804) 732-8557.
Prince George is a large, mostly rural county, and how far you travel for dental care depends a great deal on which part of it you live in. From the Route 36 corridor and the areas around Fort Gregg-Adams we are a short trip; from Disputanta or the courthouse area it is a longer but straightforward run up US-301.
Finding us from Prince George
US-301 runs north from the county into Petersburg and becomes Crater Road — we are at number 2731, on the eastern side, with parking directly at the door. From the northern part of the county, Route 36 west into Petersburg and then south onto Crater Road is the usual way in. Neither route involves the interstate unless you want it.
Why county families end up here
The practical problem in a rural county is not finding a dentist for a cleaning — it is finding one place that can also handle the things that go wrong, without a referral to Richmond and a six-week wait. We do the routine care and the treatment that usually gets sent elsewhere:
- Oral surgery and extractions, including wisdom teeth
- Implants placed and restored in the same practice
- Root canal treatment rather than an automatic extraction
- Orthodontics and clear aligners for teenagers and adults
- Sedation, so a long appointment can replace several short ones — which matters when every visit is a drive
That last point is the one county patients raise most. If you are travelling in, we will try to combine treatment into fewer, longer appointments rather than spreading it across five visits.
Children and school runs
We schedule children’s appointments early in the morning or straight after school where we can, so a check-up does not cost a whole day. First visits are short, unhurried and mostly about letting a child get used to the chair — our pediatric dentistry page explains how those appointments run.
If it is urgent
Call as early in the day as you can and we will fit you in the same day where possible. Pain, a broken tooth, a lost filling or a swollen gum are all worth a phone call rather than a weekend of waiting — see emergency dentistry for what to do in the meantime.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I reach your office from Prince George County?
A: US-301 north into Petersburg becomes Crater Road; we are at 2731 South Crater Road with parking outside. From the northern end of the county, Route 36 west then south onto Crater Road is usually quicker. Neither route needs the interstate.
Q: Can you do implants and oral surgery here, or will I be referred to Richmond?
A: Both are done at this practice. Implants are placed and restored here, and Dr. Sayyar holds a Fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Referral is only for cases that genuinely need a specialist, not as a matter of routine.
Q: I have a long drive. Can treatment be done in fewer visits?
A: Usually, yes. Tell us you are travelling in and we will plan longer combined appointments where it is clinically sensible. Sedation makes that easier for patients who would find a long visit difficult.
Q: Do you see children as well as adults?
A: Yes, the whole family. Family appointments can be booked back-to-back so one trip covers everyone, which is worth asking for if you are coming from the far side of the county.
