Meet your dentist

Dr. Sayyar

At Southside Dental Cares, you’re cared for by Dr. Sayyar — with a compassionate, patient-centered approach and modern techniques, right here in Petersburg.

Compassionate care Modern techniques Patient-centered

Southside Dental Cares is a family dental practice on South Crater Road in Petersburg. Care here is provided by Dr. Sayyar, who sees patients of every age — from a child’s first check-up to implant and cosmetic work for adults.

How we approach your care

Our mission is simple: to provide comfortable, high-quality dental services using modern techniques and a compassionate approach. In practice that means three things. We explain what we see before we treat it, so you can make the decision. We quote in writing, so cost is never a surprise. And we take dental anxiety seriously rather than talking you out of it — if you need to go slowly, we go slowly.

Qualifications and training

Dr. Sean Sayyar earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, and has practised in Virginia since 1998. His continuing education has concentrated on implants, sedation, orthodontics and occlusion — the areas that let a general practice keep treatment under one roof instead of referring it out.

  • Permit to administer moderate sedation — Virginia Board of Dentistry, permit no. 0445000106, since March 2013

Both credentials can be checked independently through the Virginia Department of Health Professions licence lookup at dhp.virginia.gov, which is the primary source for any licence issued in the Commonwealth.

What happens at your first visit

  1. A conversation first. What brought you in, what has worried you about dental visits before, and what you want your teeth to do for you.
  2. An examination and the X-rays we actually need — not a routine full set for everybody.
  3. A written plan that separates what needs attention now from what can safely wait, with the cost of each stage and what your insurance is expected to cover.
  4. Treatment at your pace. Nothing is started at that visit unless you are in pain and want relief the same day.

Treatments provided

General and preventive care, fillings, crowns and bridges, gum treatment, extractions and oral surgery, children’s dentistry, orthodontic options, whitening and cosmetic work, and same-day emergency appointments. You can see the full list on our services page.

Where Dr. Sayyar practises

Dr. Sayyar sees patients at two Virginia offices. This site belongs to Southside Dental Cares, at 2731 South Crater Road in Petersburg — appointments, hours and treatment on these pages are all handled by this office, on (804) 732-8557.

He also practises at Sayyar Family Dentistry & Associates in Glen Allen, north of Richmond. The two offices are run separately, with their own teams, schedules and phone numbers — so book with whichever is easier for you to reach, and please contact each office directly about its own appointments.

Patient education

The articles published on this site are written and reviewed by Dr. Sayyar for patients of this practice. They are general information rather than a diagnosis — if something hurts, is swollen or was knocked loose, please be seen in person.

To arrange a visit, send an appointment request or call the office at (804) 732-8557. We are open Monday to Thursday 8am–5pm and Friday 8am–1pm.
